The Tellico Village Woodworkers Club welcomes anyone interested in woodworking at all levels of experience...even no experience. You do not have to live in Tellico Village to be a member. All you really need is an interest in working with wood and a desire to learn more about the craft.
The Club uses its collective skills to better the community. On a case-by-case basis, projects are taken on by individuals or groups.
The Tellico Village Woodworkers Club members have completed Community Service Projects for the following East Tennessee area organizations:
The Toys-For-Tots program goes to the heart of the Club. This annual event was started in 1998. Each December members present to the Loudon County Sheriff's Office toys made by individuals or teams of woodworkers.
In the 15 years since the Loudon County Sheriff's / Tellico Village Woodworker's Toys-For-Tots program has been conducted, the Tellico Village Woodworkers Club members have built and donated more than 7,025 wooden toys. The following are some recent statistics:
The toys range from the simple to the complex. But rest assured, each toy that is given brings joy to the child, as well as the toy builder.
Other activities throughout the year include an annual picnic, shop tours, tool sale, and field trips. Each Spring the Club hosts a light-hearted competition called the Spring Challenge. Members are given a set of rules that they must honor. Members are given a couple of months to complete their projects, which are presented and judged at the June meeting.
